I was looking for a PDA or new smartphone to replace my Nokia N95 but couldn't really decide on anything I liked. They all seemed to offer most of the things I wanted but not all in one bundle. After a bit of searching I happened to come across a website advertising the EEPC for sale. At first I thought it was a kiddies toy but with a bit more searching I came across the EEPC Forum which was full of users praising it. I decided to order myself the 4gb white model and see what all the fuss was about. I chose the 4gb model based on tips I'd found on varying websites mentioning the fact that it has unsoldered RAM and a RAM door in the bottom of the case so you could easily upgrade it. Something which the 2gb model is missing.

When it arrived I was surprised at just how small it is - it's barely bigger than a DVD case and felt solid and well made. The EEPC comes pre-loaded with a linux distro that boots incredibly fast and is pre-loaded with over 40 applications including Pidgin - an IM client that connects to just about anything you can think of including IRC. Openoffice, Skype, Firefox, Tux Paint, virus scanner and other educational entertainment software, E-mail, and Internet radio applications,plus links to Google Docs and Wikipedia.

Driver support seems equally good with the device being able to pick up all the USB devices I've thrown at it such as external webcam (the Asus EEPC has one built in too) Ipod, mobile phones and external USB harddrives.

If you're not happy with having to use Linux they also throw in a CD full of drivers for XP so setting up Windows on your machine is easy. You will need to have access to a USB CDROM drive or USB memory stick to do this though as the EEPC is too small to house it's own CDROM drive.

While lacking a CDROM drive the EEPC sure makes up for it in other areas such as connectivity. With 3 USB ports, Ethernet, Webcam, Microphone, VGA output, Wifi, SSD Card reader and headphone sockets, you'll be sure to have enough options on the move. Sure you might be wishing it also had bluetooth or the missing CDROM drive but for the price you really can't argue.

If you're looking for a small lightweight mobile device or even a new PDA, I highly recommend you take a look at the Asus EEPC too before you make your choice.

Unless you happen to know a bit about HDTV, 1080p probably does not mean a whole heck of a lot to you. However, to those of us who consider ourselves HDTV geeks, it's a pretty big deal. 1080p is currently the highest-resolution HD format available today, which means it delivers top-of-the-line picture quality when compared to all other formats.

Most consumers are probably not interested in the technical details of why 1080p is better than 1080i, and that the "p" stands for progressive and the "i" stands for interlaced. Just know that progressive is the format that is going to give you the best HDTV picture currently available.

If you have not yet joined the ranks of HDTV owners, there may be no better time than now to do so. This is due to the fact that DISH Network is now the only national subscription broadcaster to offer 1080p programming. DISH Network's main competitor, DirecTV, says it is planning to offer 1080p programming later this year, but has not been more specific than that about a timetable.

There are usually a host of various DISH Network deals to take advantage of that offer free programming for a few months or free gifts when you subscribe.

To assist some readers who may be befuddled by all the technical jargon associated with issues like HDTV vs. SDTV, or standard definition television - the kind of TV that's been around for decades -- let me attempt an explanation that might make sense to you.

The difference between HDTV and SDTV (which we all knew and loved for many years!) might best be described by an exercise like this: A talented artist sets about to create two versions of the same beautiful portrait. And since my TV supports a maximum resolution of 1080i, I was not even seeing the best that HDTV has to offer, which is of course, 1080p.

Unfortunately for HDTV owners like myself, DISH network's new 1080p programming will not benefit me until I have a television capable of accepting a 1080p signal. I guess I'll have to start dropping coins into my piggy bank again very soon!

As a DISH Network customer who has a VIP622 DVR (Digital Video Recorder), my unit will probably be upgraded to 1080p capability any day now by way of a software download direct to the DVR, without any intervention on my part. The capabilities of the devices that provide our entertainment these days is simply amazing.

After drooling over HDTV sets in catalogs for years, and finally upgrading not all that long ago, I guess I will now have to start dreaming of a set that can handle 1080p, so I can use the full capabilities of my DISH Network service.

Perhaps we can put the old TV downstairs in the family room when I finally get to unpack that shiny, new 1080p-capable set some day.

Most homes and apartment buildings are simply not constructed with shared walls treated to block noise from being transmitted between rooms. Their shared walls, in fact, actually assist sound travel, and the best way to prevent unwanted noise from passing from room to room in your home is to treat the common walls so that they no longer conduct it. How is that done?

Adding Density
If you want to keep sound from being transmitted through the walls of your rooms (a process also known as noise bleed) you will have to isolate the rooms from one another by first adding to the density of the existing walls with MLV, or mass loaded vinyl sound blocking material which you will nail or tape over the surfaces of the walls you wand soundproofed. This MLV will help prevent your walls from vibrating and conducting sound waves.

Disconnecting Shared Walls
Once their existing walls have been covered with the MLV, you can proceed to isolate each of the rooms you want soundproofed by disconnecting the walls they share. These shared walls are the primary conduits by which the sound waves to pass from room to room.

You will actually be building new walls in front of the shared walls in each room, and the space between he new and existingv will collapse the sound waves which enter it. The sound which actually makes it through will be significantly less than it was when it left its source. You will create your new walls by adding horizontally positioned furring strips at even intervals from the floor to the ceiling of your room, and covering them with sections of drywall.

Doubling Your Results
You can further prevent noise bleed between your rooms by using more soundproofing materials. Sealing the joints of your ceilings, floors, and walls with a high-grade acoustical caulk, and adding extra layers of both MLV and new drywall will further reduce your noise bleed.

If, for example, you use two layers of MLV (which are not in contact) over your existing soundproof walls, and overlap the seams of each layer by at least 1/2", sealing the overlaps and the perimeters of each layer with the acoustical caulk and PVC seam sealing tape, your make the existing wall much more soundproof. If you then add a third layer of drywall separated form the second layer, you'll create a second dead space to collapse whatever sound vibrations make it through the first one!

While no soundproofing techniques can completely stop noise bleed through common walls, adding density and disconnecting your shared wall surfaces will come as close to doing so as you can reasonably expect!

The cheapest lens you can get that yields great results is a 50mm prime lens with an aperture of f/1.8. A lot of photographers have dubbed this lens as the "nifty fifty" because it delivers absolutely clear photos for a price less than a hundred dollars. This lens is available for both Canon and Nikon DSLR brands with Nikon's being slightly more expensive. The true benefit of this lens is that it takes very good portraiture, allowing your flower subject to stand out clearly while blurring the background.

If you have a little bit more money to burn I would highly recommend a macro lens. My personal lens of choice is an old inheritance - a Micro Nikon Auto f/3.5 macro lens which I've seen all over the Internet. It's not being sold in stores anymore but you can probably grab one from eBay if by some twist of fate the previous owner has decided to sell.

If you're going to go "deep" with shooting, you will definitely need a mini tripod or a monopod to deliver versatile shots. You can find pretty versatile mini tripods for less than P400.00 in some malls. But I suggest investing in more durable tripods such as the mini GorrilaPod that retails for about a thousand bucks. A monopod, on the other hand will help you get sturdy in thick situations like when inside bushes or when the area does not give you the luxury of spreading out a tripod through a wider plane.

Netflix, best known for their DVD rentals by mail service also has a lesser known streaming service. In the past, if you wanted to watch these streaming titles, you had use your PC. Now with the Roku Netflix Player, watching these same titles on your TV is an easy process.

Simply plug in this paperback book sized device into your internet connection (wireless or regular ethernet). Then you can plug into the TV portion of things (HDMI, component, S-Video, composite and Toslink). This device will work on both HD and standard definition TVs. Setting up your Netflix account with this device is a simple process. The device will display an activation code that you then input while you're on the Netflix site.

After that, it will start to download your list of instant play titles. Navigating these titles is straightforward. Unfortunately you can only add titles via the Netflix website.

How's the video quality? Pretty good. Depending on the particular title you are watching, it can vary from near-DVD quality to VHS. I don't blame my connection for the quality woes. From the type of video defects I saw, it had more to do with how the source material was handled.

The selection of titles is lacking when compared to what Netflix offers from their DVD service. A lot of the titles I saw were lesser known independent and older films. The good news is that new titles are constantly finding their way into this collection. I had a chance to see the last couple of seasons of Heroes as well as the one of my favorite sci-fi films, Aliens.

When you think of this as a supplement to your regular Netflix queue, it's actually a great service that gives you some interesting programming on the side while you wait for your next batch of DVDs to arrive.

Finally the selection is lacking, but if given some time, I think it will turn into something respectable. As of right now, you're able to watch mainstream movies like Superbad, Ratattouille, and No Country for Old Men. Right now this service is still in its growing stages. With continued progress, I think we'll see something special in a few years.

Most all plants depend on mineral forms of nitrogen contained in the soil, and this is where your coffee grounds come into play.Used grounds can give your soil the added nitrogen that they need if your soil is lacking it. Coffee grinds also contain potassium, phosphorus, and some other elements that aid the growth of plants. Many rose gardeners have stated (my grandmother included) swear that the addition of coffee grounds have made their roses more colorful and larger than normal.

The coffee grinds when added to your compost break-down very quickly and can be used in a short period of time to help develop your plants. The other thing you can do is simply sprinkle the grounds around the base of your plants as I usually do and blend into the soil. Having said this at the rate I go through coffee I have resorted to dumping the coffee grinds into my compost along with my lawn clippings.

Other reports are claiming that grounds are a natural insect repellent.And can be effective on reducing the amount of ants in a location, simply sprinkling coffee grounds on the anthill or where they are traveling will deter them from that area.

In any case using coffee grounds to benefit plant growth seems to be an excellent alternative to discarding them in my garbage, it's a little extra work but it is free so I will continue to do so !

When you go to the store to buy tennis shoes what exactly do you look for? Is it the way they look or feel, or how about the weight or durability of the tennis shoe? I have been a successful tennis player for quite some time. I started playing when I was about 10 years old and now I am a senior playing at the University of Georgia. In 2007 we were able to win the National Championships held in Athens, GA. What I am trying to say is I have worn my share of shoes and I know what works for me. It might not be the same for you but I would like to share my insight.

I look for a couple different elements when I am choosing the right tennis shoe. First when I try on the shoe it can't weigh me down. If it feels too heavy and bulky I'm not going to be able to move quickly and swiftly around the court. This is very important because the comfort and weight of the shoe play a big part in your footwork on the tennis court. We all know that once your footwork goes your whole game goes down. So make sure that the shoe is light and comfortable.

Next the shoe must be versatile. It has to be able to mold to your foot with flexibility. Now this is something that is difficult to feel when trying on a brand new shoe because it takes a while for a new shoe to break in to your foot. One thing I do is take the shoe and try and bend it to see how flexible it really is. Normally the more durable shoes are going to be less flexible which could cause blisters and uncomfortable movement on the court.

So we know that the shoe needs to be somewhat light and comfortable when you put it on as well as flexible. Now we need to figure out the durability. This is very important because when you shop for a shoe that is said to be very durable then the other features will definitely struggle. So something has to give. I want my shoe to be durable but I don't want to lose comfort or flexibility. So see how much buildup there is at the end of the shoe by your big toe. This is a fey factor to see how much tread and durability has been built up in the design of the shoe.

A new shoe should really last you about 3-4 weeks if you're playing a whole lot. Remember understand what you want out of your tennis shoe and that will determine what kind of style and purchase you want to make. For me not being the quickest guy on the court I need something light and flexible. That will allow me to move better on the court as well as keeping my feet in good condition (no blisters). Keep this information in mind and you will find yourself with a great tennis shoe.

Warhammer Mark of Chaos is the eagerly awaited RTS (Real Time Strategy) game by Namco Bandai. Based on the Games Workshop tabletop wargame, Warhammer, one can fight alongside the evil Chaos or the mighty Empire. The game itself is amazing, graphics are top-notch and the AI is stunning. It captures the whole Warhammer experience greatly and has pretty good multiplayer action. Although there are some disadvantages (such as multiplayer technical issues and a fairly basic campaign) its well worth buying this game.

The game is fairly simple to get used to (after about half an hour you will probably be used to most of the basic controls) Basically, its mostly drag and click but there are some useful rotating/zooming options (all explained in the tutorial, which is a must for first-time players) and if a quick view reset is required, all you have to do is tap the Space Bar on your keyboard.

The battles are very similar to the Total War games (only instead of just humans, these include Orks, Elves, Skaven, Chaos and other creatures/armies from the popular fantasy wargame) The battles are amazing to watch and at some points I just zoom in and watch my men fight. Unfortunately the campaign-mode is nothing special. The player has a choice of two campaigns, the Chaos campaign and the Empire campaign. Even though Mark of Chaos and the Total War games feature the same type of epic-battles, the same can't be said for the campaigns. The Mark of Chaos campaigns are nothing close to the strategic depth of the Total War campaigns, but they both feature the same turn-based style.

Both the Empire and the Chaos campaigns are very similar, you move along a pre-determined battle path and fight battle after battle, meet and help a besieged town, duel an enemy hero and defeat and encampment of enemies. Occasionally you may come across a crossroads leading to an optional battle, but other than that, there aren't really any random events. You are able to buy your own army's units, upgrade them with better armor, weapons, siege equipment, banners, musicians and unit champions and even bless your troops in a temple, granting them various battle benefits. When you decide to fight a battle, you can obviously choose which troops to take with you and this is were the decision making and strategic planning begins.. do you want an army full of ranged weapons, such as muskets, bows or axes or would you rather rely on a force made up of swords and spears? The choice is up to you..If you lose some units in the battle, you can replace these (for a cost) at your army camp/town(eliminating the whole "resource gathering" process that may make other RTS games boring). You also get to control various heroes throught the game. These heroes can duel enemy heroes in one-on-one combat. Speaking of battles, these involve quite a bit of strategic thinking and with the right tactics, it is possible to crush the enemy with minimal losses from your side. The fighting isn't like most RTS games, it isn't "fight to the death", units have morale and if a significant amount of that unit is killed, the survivors will break ranks and flee, giving you (or your opponent) the chance to regroup and chase the remainder of the enemy's army until they're forced to surrender.

Multiplayer battles are often huge and exciting (that is, if you manage to connect..) Unfortunately there are some connection problems (even after patching) but thankfully, these will eventually be fixed and Mark of Chaos supports multiplayer play over a LAN so its not THAT big of a problem.
