Clear DVD Cases

Clear DVD cases are made from semi transparent and transparent plastic material that allows users to view the type of DVD stored in the case without actually opening it. Clear DVD cases eliminate the need for DVD covers and labels as information about the DVD can be viewed by just looking at the DVD case.

The most commonly used clear DVD cases include jewel cases that are available as single, dual, and multiple DVD storage cases. A single disc capacity clear DVD case consists of two flaps and a plastic tray, measuring 142 mm 125 mm 10 mm, which contains a DVD along with the liner note and a back card. The two flaps are hinged together to form the casing and the back half holds the media tray that grips the disc by its hole. All three parts are made from durable polystyrene plastic material.

The two flaps have snap-shut lock function, which is used for securing the disc. The center of the tray contains a circular hub shaped like teeth, which grips the disc by its hole. This is designed to suspend the disc in the container for preventing the recording surface from being scratched.

Another clear DVD case is available as clamshell (C-shell) cases that are made from durable high quality plastic material such as Polypropylene. They have a unique round design with a square side for proper DVD storage and handling. They are available as single and dual DVD storage cases and are one of the cheapest DVD storage mediums available in the market. The only drawback is that the thin hinges joining the two panel hubs start to disintegrate after repetitive use and makes it unusable after the two flaps are completely separated.

Apart from providing easy viewing options to the user, clear DVD cases also provide protection against excess heat, excess moisture, electromagnetism, and dust particles that can easily damage or corrupt the data stored on DVD discs.
